Several new products have been recently launched by IFS following a period of activity both in-house and at customer's premises. Of particular interest are the mercury-free spray-applied elastomer for buoyancy applications and a complete range of products for applications requiring less demanding products. The 'Econothane' range are available in a variety of hardness grades at prices which reflect their moderate level of performance.
At the high performance end of the spectrum, significant progress has been made on the development of thermally stable materials. Thermal testing up to 200oC has resulted in several candidate products for thermally stable elastomer applications. Modified isocyanate chemistry with IPN (Interpenetrating Polymer Networks) technology has led to thermally stable materials capable of insulation performance utilising microsphere technology.
