About us

IFS provides products and services to a wide selections of industries, including refrigeration, industrial insulation, automotive, marine and leisure. The holding company, IFS Chemicals Ltd, controls three subsidiary operating companies: International Polyurethanes Ltd, Industrial Foam Systems Ltd and Envirofoam Chemicals Ltd.

We operate from a 55,000 square ft factory in Roydon near Kings Lynn, Norfolk. The plant consists of seven adjoining units which allow efficient product flow from raw material warehousing, through production, to quality control and finished goods storage. The factory is on a 5 acre site in a rural environment.

The production area consists of 15 resin blending vessels ranging in capacity from 150 litres to 25,000 litres. Each is dedicated to a specific type of resin, some have pressure facilities to allow the introduction of volatile components and others have vacuum and heating facilities to aid de-aeration of the resin.

IFS Group - About us

Most resin blending vessels are mounted on floor standing load cells accurate to within 0.2% and regularly calibrated.

Apart from a modern Quality Control laboratory, the plant contains a spacious and well-equipped Development Laboratory where new formulations are derived for all foam and elastomer applications.

We provide a wide range of support services too, from Health & Safety guides to experienced on-site technical support. It is this combination of technical excellence, flexibility and support which has won us the confidence of household-name clients such as Land Rover and Rolls Royce, and gives us the ability to handle huge international projects such as the 1100 mile BTC oil pipeline.

Our aim is to work closely with our customers to develop innovative solutions to their problems, and at the same time, to minimize the environmental impact of those solutions. For example, we formulated and marketed a range of zero-impact blowing agents a full five years before anyone else in the world. And we currently lead the industry in the production of vegetable oil-based PU systems.

Our history speaks for itself – we introduced the very first polyurethane insulation foams having no CFCs or HCFCs back in 1988, many years ahead of the rest of the industry. We then developed the “low Global Warming grades” offering high insulation values within environmentally attractive chemical systems. In the polyurethane elastomer field, we were again first to develop materials, which do not use catalysts based on mercury – again another significant environmental first for IFS. In very recent times we have developed materials, which offer improved performance at high operating temperatures.

It is clear that the reputation for innovation at IFS is well deserved with the Company continually pushing forward with technical developments aimed at constantly improving performance and minimising any environmental issues. However, we do not only provide excellent products, many of which are custom-formulated. We also supply the best possible levels of customer support, ensuring that our customers understand and use the best possible techniques when processing chemicals from IFS. Our commitment to quality, not only in terms of chemical performance, but also with regard to our customer’s own product quality, leads to a true manufacturing partnership which grows stronger as the years go by.
